Dentures are a relatively quick and easy way to restore the gaps in your smile, or to replace the an entire row of missing teeth. Dentures work well for people who may not able to afford a procedure like dental implants, or whose gums or jawbone are not healthy enough to sustain implants. Dentures are not your natural teeth, and because of that, you may think that you can relax your dental care routine. However, the way that you care for your teeth has only changed.

Dentures need to be cleaned at least once a day. Food can debris and plaque can accumulate in between your dentures and your gums or palate. To clean your dentures, you need to scrub them very gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush, or a brush designed to clean dentures. You should use warm water and dish soap, hand soap, or a toothpaste made for dentures. Do not use regular toothpaste on your dentures, since it may contain adhesives that can cause damage. You should clean your dentures over a towel or a sink full of water. That way, if you drop your dentures, there is less of a chance that they will be damaged.

Remember to brush your gums. Doing so will remove plaque and will also stimulate the flow of blood, keeping them healthy.
