Teeth whitening in Honolulu, Hawaii, can be very beneficial, but it’s not for everyone. This is why our Gary H. Morikawa, DDS Inc team encourages you to think about a few things before you decide on whitening your chompers. Some things we ask you to consider include:

What does your dentist say?
Not all tooth stains can be corrected with teeth-whitening treatments, even professional treatments. So, it’s best to get advice from your dentist before you take the first step of treatment. Teeth whitening is also discouraged if you have sensitive teeth, gum disease, or worn tooth enamel.

Is teeth whitening worth the cost?
Teeth whitening is usually worth the cost if it’s covered by your dental insurance. However, the treatments aren’t always covered by insurance carriers. So, it’s best to check your dental plan and make sure the treatment is covered.

Should you use an over-the-counter or professional treatment?
Over-the-counter and in-office whitening treatments can both whiten your smile and give you the results you’re looking for. However, they are both different. Over-the-counter whitening can be done within the walls of your own home but it might take some time before you notice any results. In-office whitening is quick and easy and you usually see results within one or two trips to our office.

If you’re interested in finding out if teeth whitening is the best option for you, please feel free to call our office at 808-949-8866 and schedule an appointment with your dentist, Dr. Gary H Morikawa, at your earliest convenience. When you come into our office, we will examine your smile and determine if this is the best option for you. We look forward to hearing from you!
